Thank you all for the latest postings.
Richard; your research appears to resolve the problem message of 'BIOS not installed'.

I don't think RAID is installed. In the Bios, the default tab enables all defaults at one go.
Under the BIOS Advanced tab there is the choice of RAID OR IDE. This was changed to IDE.

The G: drive is connected now and appears fine. The computer boots-up ok.

The F drive was next to be connected but fails to show in "MY COMPUTER"
It IS listed in DEVICE MANAGER with the other hard disc drives
In SYSTEM PROPERTIES it says it is working correctly.
I have tried for drivers but it says there is not anything better than it already has.

The internet does not connect and email will not work.
    Having said that -
I sent two test emails, to myself, last night. The first just disappeared off the computer.
The second did go to the SENT folder. It did not appear in the received folder afterwards. This morning it showed on another computer.

I have tried phoning Virgin Media, the ISP. However, as my hearing is very poor I had to ring off as I was unable to hear what the female voice was telling me.

    Internet Explorer now working.

Used USB pen drive to download Internet Explorer version 7 - using another computer. Installed successfully on Edit computer.

Only one problem (?) left now - to get computer to recognise F:\ hard disc drive in "My Computer" - so that it can be used.

    Les,

Here's some info on getting the PC to recognise a 'new hard drive'...

    http://www.pctoday.com/Editorial/art...=&bJumpTo=True

Have a look at the Disk Management Check section therein.

    Hope this helps,

    Richard

PS: I think Internet Explorer 8 is more secure than version 7. Firefox is an even better solution.

The problem hard disc drive is now recognised in "My Computer" as F:\ drive. (as it originally was).
Right clicking 'properties' it shows as zero bytes. Left clicking states the "Parameters are unusable".

Went to administrative tools in Control Panel.
F:\ HDD recognised - after a single partirion snd format.

Just remains to capture video in Premiere Pro, and burn to DVD to see if audio is back.

Burnt to DVD. All is fine now.

Thank you all very much - Dave Farrants at Fox Video, Harlequin, alias Gary MacKensie, Richard of Happy days and Robo.
Thank you all for the information, support and your patience.
    The DV Doctor is wonderful.
Don't know what I would have done without it!

You should pat yourself on the back also Les. You exhibited the main skill necessary for solving computer problems....dogged persistance. Well done ;-)

Thank you for that kind remark Richard BUT, without all the postings of help on DV Doctor the process would have taken a great deal longer.

This may be useful to others:
A 4-port KVM switch connects three elderly desktop computers.
When connected (as my own diagram) only two computers were accessable. (Press CTRL twice plus a number)
When trying to access the third computer a message appeared ""Out of Range".
This was finally resolved by swapping connections one and two on the KVM switch.
