    Default Canon XHA1 Footage Fuzzy

Finally been using our new XHA1 & testing it's abilities. I did notice that when filming the footage looked "fuzzy" when either viewing through the viewfinder or the screen. Downloaded it onto our system & the footage is the same, not crisp or sharp as if the lens was covered in a thin film of paper. Have I got the settings wrong?
Have any of you guys experienced this?
    Thanks

I'm amazed! Not 1 reply! Do you use this cam in auto? Is it that good compared with all others? I'm afraid it is! I found the problem, sorted it & now comparing it to the other cams we have I'm convinced Canon have got it spot on the money!
What a great cam & thanks for all your help.

I'd have replied had I ever seen an XHA1, but I haven't, so didn't, because I wouldn't have been able to add anything. I guess that must be true for a great many of us. Glad you got it sorted.

we have a XHA1 in my film group but I've only personally used it a couple of times so my experience is negliable. In that I never offered any advice this may sound cheeky but can you tell us what the source of the problem was and how you resolved it?

    Hello

We have 2 XHA1's. At first I thought it was the students using auto focus or not focusing properly. But guest what........I was wrong. I haven't got the bottom of this problem yet either but YES footage shot on the XHA1 can sometimes be soft on focus not to mention drained of colour. If i could I would Sony next time round.

This is the first cam that I've had that you can't just shoot out of the box unless you are prepared to do it all in post, it gives a very flat output, you need to set a preset (and not the ones it comes with) if you want it to look good straight out of the cam, I use 'Panalook' which is designed to look like a DVX100, you'll find them here:

and a video of some of them in use here:

The problem was that the AGC was switched on hence overloading the video input causing a fuzziness around the subjects being filmed. I've been discussing this with Robo & now setting up the cam with some settings he provided.
    Cheers

That sounds like over-exposure rather than defocusing.
