You Tube (Again)

I have finally got around to doing some recording in HD on my Sony Z5 using tape. I have created a 4 & half minute project and decided to place it on You Tube. I used the H264 setting and note that it says that the files is 782mb.  On trying to upload it to You Tube I note that the time expected was well over 300 minutes. After two tries I abandoned this.

I realise that HD will take much longer to upload  but over 5 hours for such a short video seems very long. Perhaps members would care to tell me if this is the sort of time I must expect. Perhaps there is an alternative setting that I should use for uploads to You Tube.  Thanks. Pete.

What kind of Broadband upload speed have you got? 782mb might be considered a bit meaty for 4.5 minutes but shouldn't take that long to upload with "normal" Broadband connection.

Thanks Ron.
I've been with my ISP for more years that I can remember with never a problem. I've never changed because my web space/name etc. has always been totally free and I pay £7.50 a month. However there is a limitted amount of up/download amount which I have only exceed once.

I have already changed the video file to FLV (much smaller of course) and that uploaded easily in a couple of hours and looks fine.

I have already checked on other ISPs in my area but it may mean loosing my free items..  That's my next job and thanks for your replies.   Pete

Re: You Tube (Again)
Follow on to the above. My ISP is Madasafish and I have run speed checks for a couple of days and the average results are Downloading 4.69 and Uploading 3.67. The advertising say UP TO 8 m.  I have read all the bumph about speeds available etc.and the reasons etc. So as far as I can see, changing to another ISP will still give me the same poor speeds in my area unless I go for (say) BT's best service.

Am I right in this assumption or what do readers suggest please? Pete.

Hi Pete

your right in a way, put different phone companies do different things with the lines (read the cheaper once try and give you less so they can get more)

if your getting 3.67 on a 4.69 download your doing very well, it's typical that the upload is often only 20-25% of the speed of the upload.

most ISP have  to supply you a Minimum of 0.5 download, I think sky are 1.0, so if your regularly not getting that get on there case
