Video streaming

I have a client who needs 2, 20-30 sec video clips on different sites. I'm told, but I've not confirmed, that they have their own server. If they have, what is the best format for quickness and high quality? If they don't have their own server, can anyone recommend the best way of routing these for speed and quality? Thanks for any assistance. Ian.

Thanks Gary - the client is looking for a virtually wait free clip for their clients to watch - the last clip, though quite long, didn't take long to buffer and quality was good, so maybe the WMV would suit. They have their own dedicated webman, but Is there a spec for his server he should have it set at? Bear in mind I know bugger all about servers.

there was an article in the magazine about this , but from experience , the server doesn't need to be more than a p3-450 , as long as that is all it is doing.

there are some nice 19" rackmount units which are sold for media streaming.

pcpro has done reviews , but i think pcwells was the computer video person who looked into streaming.

daquinh , should know lots too ..........

me , i just created the files , and tried to see which worked best ...... give the client the info i gave you and let more than one have a look at the clips at the same time to see if it can handle the strain.

it will be online till 4.00pm , but is doing other things like this , encoding video etc , so isn't purely streaming.
