URGENT advice needed on pricing copyright release

We were commissioned to do a website video clip for a holiday park. Then they added in a slightly different version for Hoseasons. Then they needed shots of tourist attractions added (outside filming day quoted). Next they need an encoded version for Times supplement app. Now Hoseasons need a script change.

However what I need advice on is the latest in the list of  'extras'. Client wants a DVD and casually mentions he will be duplicating it himself to send out to any enquiries. What if anything should we say / charge for same please?

ASAP answers would be very much appreciated!

I guess you've already got a figure in mind for the master DVD creation and it's just the copyright release for them to do their own duplication? We have in the past charged anything from a few £100 for this privilege based on the clients initial request for xxx number of DVDs that may be needed and which we would have lost out on. Hope this helps :)

Thanks Branny. There was actually no mention of a DVD at all when I quoted but in a later conversation the client just casually mentioned how they 'just copy them ourselves'. This is a guy who is on the Rich List, regularly mentioned in Times and has to decide which of his fleet of sports and luxury cars to drive on any given day.

We've filmed parties for him before and somehow I always end up making sweet FA from the deal but with a promise of lots of work to come!! I had joked that this might be the one occasion we actually get paid for what we do but lesson in life ... the rich don't get / stay rich by giving it away LOL!

I've learned from experience to read clients like these. You should have gone in from a strong position, then backed off just a little. These guys like a deal, but  I only get stung once
