Hello!

There was talk that our subscriptions would be replaced with Camcorder User (what ever the name is), or some other related Highbury title. Has anyone received one yet? I've not had a refund, so I'm assuming that I should be recieving a replacement magazine soon. Anyone shed any light?

I was thinking of posting the same.

Not a very good advert for it's replacement

We must be suffering withdrawal symptoms - I was thinking the same. A call to 'subscriptions' at Highbury gave me the following information, the first copy of the replacement mag will not be winging its way to us until March 10th!! That means two months without a read!!

Fair enough, thanks for ringing Robo. At least I can sneak into WHSmiths tomorrow to look for some sort of other title to keep me occupied.

chris, I decided not to accept Highbury's alternative magazine (it's not in the same league as cVE was), so I rang the 'subs' phone number and they arranged a refund. I felt that Highbury should have informed subscribers that they would receive a refund unless an alternative magazine was requested. :( Tony C.

Well, I'm willing to give a new mag a whirl, it's just a shame that highbury don't seem to have bothered contacting anyone about it. Anyone who doesn't visit this website won't have a clue what's going on.

I received a letter dated 13th December which was enclosed with the Feb 05 issue of CVE.

It was headed "Information concerning your CVE subscription"

"Unfortunately, this is the last issue of CVE ........Computer User is to be improved with a large section dedicated to video editing techniques and a cover disk........first issue to be sent out on 10th March."

".....we will send CU for the remainder of your subscription......for an alternative mag or refund ring 01353 654430."

Ahhh. My own fault then. I probably threw it away thinking it was the 'is this your correct address?' note.

I've just rung for a refund - 0870 42 87 950

They say that I had £16.50's credit with the mag - one issue delivered so about £13 as a refund. I think I paid a lot more for CV but can't remember. The newer sub offer was £49.99 for the reveamped 9and short lived ) mag.

I thought the offer was if you liked the first replacement you would continue to receive that magazine , if not they would refund all the money including cost of the magazine you didn't like.
as it is unsolicited goods .......
