We monitor our website traffic, but never seen this before.../C:/Users/Julie/Videos/drfilms_co_uk.htm

Been two and throw for the last couple of hours....

Anyone shed light on where the link is coming from...

Cheers

Link seems to point to your own pc.
I assume you've saved a local copy and pasted that link by mistake?

Hmm, that's the weird thing, no account under the name of Julie! only set up under my name...and its accessing our website at times we are not on it! weird, this is getting disconcerting....

Any other ideas?

I'm not sure I understand the question.
Are you saying that under your web host statistics, the c drive link appears on the list alongside google etc?
Please specifiy exactling how/where this c drive string appears.

Hi Dave, sorry for the confusion. It's our web stats, so for instance we see people finding us through google under certain keywords, or from another website etc, so when I saw this it threw me.

Does this make sense?:)

Cheers.

Assuming your web host is one of the big boys, I'd say either:
i) The web host company has a link somewhere to your website
ii)Someone is disguising a domain/url with an alias for presumably illegitimate purpose.

Either way I'd drop the web host co an email.
If it's the former they need to know internal procedures are causing concern and for the latter, someone is trying to distort their stats utility.

I think you may find this is where someone saves a bookmark to their computer desktop and then they click on it to go to your website rather than use the normal method of bookmarking. In this case they've saved it to their Videos folder.

Yep, it's the location of the saved link on the users PC, nothing to worry about.

I drink to steady my nerves. Last night I got so steady I couldn't move. Wedding video essex

I'm surprised by that, if that is indeed the case.
I would expect the web host utility to record the url relative to web host.
The 'C' drive reference is not unique, unless preceded by something like the IP address.

I should be able to show you - bookmark my foxvideo site on your desktop then close your browser, then double click on the .html icon now on your desktop - it should show up in my stats and I'll post a grab of your visit. I've just changed to an iWeb site so I'm not 100% certain it'll work, I'm still ironing out a few bugs!

I saved your home page to C:users/dave/downloads.
From this html page I then clicked on about, showreel and contact.
When you check, does this mean you will steal my identity - or have I stolen yours ;)
Time stamp approx 22.49 7/4/11.

I got your first visit at 22.45 but not your second (I did have someone visit from Glasgow at 22.58). Not sure why your second visit didn't show at all, although my new site with iWeb uses a strange 2 x index.html file system. I have a play and let you know when to try it again.
