Parking Fees?

After filming a wedding yesterday at The Hilton in Glasgow, I'm left feeling a bit puzzled. All the staff dealing with the wedding were very accomadating, and the photograher was a breath of fresh air.

I imagine that it was obvious to one & all that I was filming the wedding. However, when I asked about getting a parking pass I was sent on a wild goose chase. Some people said it wouldn't be a problem, and others just point blank refused to help me.

At the end of the day I was going to be charged £13 for parking, but you can be sure the photographer & band didn't pay a penny. Just as well I conviently didn't have any money on me, leaving my details for someone to contact me.

We were fortunate enough to be filming at The Turnberry Hotel Ayrshire yesterday were we had an allocated parking space 20yds from the main entrance plus a porter to assist with our equipment, it certainly made our job easier and congratulations to the staff at Turnberry for their professionalism.

When we arrived at the Redcliffe Hotel Paignton yesterday we were greeted as old friends by the restaruant manager & maitre de, the imediatley stood at the top of the entrance steps as if looking for the arrival of the couple, a cutaway shot which is very usefull, without being asked.

All through the ceremony they checked & advised us of proceedings, they provided sandwiches during the meal for us & the photographer, who was a real pleasure to work with!

All in all a very enjoyable day even if we were to tired to stay on for the evening do when the couple & parents implored us to do.

The only problem during the day was that the bridal car got stuch at the brides home & she arrived via a friendly neighbour, a replacement car arrived at the church to take them on to the reception. This didn`t cause us any problems but apparently the driver was in tears"!

Oh yes, nearly forgot, the vicar was very helpfull as were the rest of the clergy & choir.

Would I chose to work in other parts of the country? judging by some of the tales of woe, not bloody likely!!!

Funny you should mention that Barry, because we have been posting a lot negative stuff on the board recently.

Maybe it's just the stress of the wedding season.

If I have to work in London, I make it clear that parking fess are an addition to the normal costs. They are just to exorbitant down here.

Luckily I do not do many any London (if I can help It)

Looking back on it the parking fees were an oversight on my behalf. It's just that I've never had to pay them before, and I shouldn't have assumed that the Hilton would have taken care of me.

Oh well, at least I'll be wise enough to ask in the future.
