Looking into live web streaming encoding units and am after some advice. Have seen some of the Teradek units but am looking for something a bit more robust, planing to fit it in our OB van so rack mounted would be good. At the moment we only need Composite and SD-SDI but worth having HD-SDI as well. Live the idea of being able to plug a broadband USB stick in if possible

Any advice would be great

Have you seen the Teradek Chimera? http://www.holdan.co.uk/Teradek/H264+Encoders/Chimera#tab=description

I've been looking at getting one of these recently: http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/atemtelevisionstudio/

Retails at less than £700 and you can add on hardware controllers and the latest firmware now does audio as well, no composite but with HDMI and HD SDI it interfaces with the latest kit very well.

Hi Gary

The firmware update isn't out yet, and when it is there is no way of encoding directly from the USB output from the TV Studio which is designed to record and not stream. Livestream have got a way of using the ATEM 1 and ATEM TV Studio USB outputs for Streaming which I saw at NAB but thats using their clever software to re-encode in real time.
