I have a 2nd hard drive in our PC which when I want to read how full it is using Explorer Properties the system closes down. Has this HD failed or due to fail. I can read the file sizes which does not add upto anywhere near the 200G but when I want to use the HD it states it is full.
Any ideas
Thanks

Have you recently deleted stuff on the drive that is now in the recycle bin? If so try emptying the recycle bin and see if it now shows the correct disk usage. Bit of a long shot but it has caught me out in the past.

Nothing has been deleted from this drive. I have only noticed this as I am looking for space on the PC!

what about if you look at the size via "my computer" ?

You could try defragging but you might be better to buy a firewire/usb drive and copy all the stuff over and then reformatting

Have a look at the drive contents with Hide Protected System files deselected on the View tab of Folder options on the Tools menu of a window. There may be some obsolete recycle bin folders there - the will be called Recycler.
