Anyone know who to contact for CV subscription refunds?

When CV ceased publication, I called the subscription number to arrange a refund (back in Dec 2004). They told me it would take at least 28 days, probably longer because of Christmas, so I put the paperwork aside.

I recently realised I'd never received the refund, so set about tracking it down. What an epic!

If anyone knows who I should contact, can they let me know?

For the record, I have tried:

Original subscription hotline 01353 654430 -> recorded message saying number has changed to 0870 8378668.

0870 8378668 -> they say they took over the subscription business, but never received anything to do with CV and directed me to Highbury on 01689 887244.

01689 887244 -> said they didn't deal with it, but I should contact a company called CI on 01458 271431.

01458 271431 -> got a nice man called Dominic to call me back, who said they didn't deal with it, but Highbury used to be Highbury Wyvern, and gave me a number for what used to be Highbury Wyvern - 01353 654411.

01353 654411 -> recorded message saying the number has been changed to 0870 4287949 (and the company now seems to be called Acolade).

0870 4287949 -> said they didn't deal with it, but I should try 01353 654430 (the number I started with!). When I pointed this out they suggested Tower on 01858 438795, who had taken over Digital Video after it merged with Camcorder User. Since this happened way after CV, I'm guessing they would know much about it.

THe refund was only £9.33, and I've already run up a phone bill of a couple of quid with all these 0870 numbers, so any help would be appreciated!

how did you pay for it ?
if credit card , call the company and tell them you havn't had the refund for goods not supplied.
if direct debit/standing order , ask your bank.

maybe a walk/talk to consumer protection might work
