Can't believe it: Sony Vegas 8c release still won't open Sony EX1 or EX3 media directly to the timeline, does it still insist on all that wrapping and unwrapping waffle ??
Please correct me if I'm mistaken, I mean Edius will play just the mp4 without all the metadata if necessary - I'm staggered Sony and Sony don't talk to each other - or do they?

And I've just been sent an HDV MiniDV tape to watch. Recorded in a Canon it won't play in either my FX1 or Z1 - though I can see there's a movie on in in FF.

Tom, you've fallen foul of the very well-known Canon variant of HDV, they use a slightly different coder for progressive, yhou can play it only in a Canon player.

Didn't Canon go their own way in the SD DV days as well? I seem to remember people having audio problems with tapes recorded in Canon cameras.

Aren't camcorders the ONLY part of the Canon universe that have any audio component? Compare with the Sony universe and draw your own conclusions.

its the old Right hand meet the left hand
The other moot point is that the Sony 270 camera has 4 audio tracks, yet Vegas will not load the additional two audio, not do most other software but being Sony you would thing they be on top of it...

Actually the D5 DSLR has audio and not long ago Canon were producing a range of home cinema hi-fi.

Oh well - I stand corrected! But my point about the relative "audio" experience of Canon vs. Sony still stands, I feel?
