I'm trying to produce my first 1 hour Blu Ray Disc.

Ive edited my project in Premiere Pro. Set my chapter markers up and am now exporting to encore. I want to author a disc with menus

I chose the high quality default settings ( Target bit rate of 20, max bit rate of 25,) and its told me the file size will be just under 10Gig. Had a play with the seetings and tweeked them up to the max 35 and got a file size of 16 gig. Now I know that the Blu ray disc has a capacity of 25 Gig. so it would fit easily but not sure what effect that would have on play back so chickened out and left it at the high quality default setting.

Its now chundering through the rendering process. and telling me that its rendering media pass 1 of 2 and got about 20% of the way through but its still going to take 2 hours 20 mins to complete

now I'm assuming thats just the first media pass? Is it going to take another 3 hours to do the second pass as well?

then I expect it will open encore , I will be able to set up my menus and eventualy burn a disc.

Can I expect another delay whilst it does some encoding again or will it burn straight away?

am I still about 8 hours away from completing my first disc?

Well I can now answer that question as its just started to do its second pass. It says its going to take another 1 hour , 15 minutes , but thats still rising so I'm guessing its another 3 hour wait :( :( :( :(

This is all very reminiscent of my early days of creating ordinary DVDs. I used to leave the PC on overnight and hope that there would be a disc waiting for me in the morning.

Well the process has now moved on to Encore,

Ive constructed my Menus, a main menu and a sub menu , tested that it all works, placed a new Blu ray disc in the burner, checked my settings and hit build at around 18:10.

went and had something to eat and watched it go through a few processes before starting to write to the disc. Its got about 10Gb to write and its done 2Gb already. I cant see it taking the 2 hours it says on time remaining.

looking good.

B*gger!

well the disc came out at about 18:45 so from starting the process tp producing a disc took in the region of 7 hours.

However tried to play the disc with Cyberlink Power DVD and it failed . have got two error messages.

one saying it needs an update and the other saying that my disc is of an unsupported format.

B*gger

Sounds about right for BluRay.

Why don't you nip round to your nearest Comet or Currys and pop your BD-R into a BluRay player or better still, a PS3.

It will probably work.

Ive actually taken it round to my couple who have a PS3, they will let me know whether it plays or not.
