I am trying to make Premiere run as best as it can on my system. I have partitioned my 6gig C drive into 2*3 gig, using Partition Magic. Then used Drive Image to copy C onto the new logical drive, which it has given `F` and I have called it `Video`. Using Boot Magic, selecting my C boots up O.K., but selecting the new partition, F, my PC just sits in the Boot sequence saying `Preparing to run 'video'...`. Will Boot Magic boot from a `logical` partition? How?
I am using Win 98, Premiere 5.1.
Thanks. Glyn Ford.

Win 9x will only boot from primary partitions, and you should only have one primary partition visible on the boot disk at one time.
Boot Magic looks after this for you. You create two (or more) primary partitions on the drive, and BM automatically hides all but the one you choose to boot from. The booted one is always drive C.
It follows that any files you want to be accessible from both boots must be on another drive or partition.

I have just setup a duel boot on my system, win98se and win2k pro. I just installed win2k to the second partition, now on boot I get a 30sec countdown to choose between 1/win98se or 2/win2k pro. works fine, you can see win98 files from win2k but not the other way round.make sure you have all the win2k drivers for your hardware. I had to download the drivers for my soundblaster live card.you can convert the FAT32 file system on the win2k partition to NTFS file system ( gets over the 2gig problem.

Thanks chaps. Got it sorted, eventually. Partition Magic was setting up the new partition in the `extended` area - hence becoming Logical. Once I noticed this, I sussed out how to create it as a Primary partition, and Boot Magic behaved. Now I can use Premiere without useless bits (background programes and hardware) slowing it down. Magic!
