Introducing my little company, there's just four of us and our main work is cine to DVD, AVI, QT, miniDV or other formats. You're welcome to a free cine to DVD demo disc if you woud like one.

We transfer pop videos from tape, AVI or QT files to Digibeta for MTV etc.

Archive old U-matics to digital files of DVDs.

Simple edit jobs especially ones involving hours of VHS or miniDV, Michael is good at that.

We have a 10bit, 4 field component standards convertor linked to Digibeta, Beta SP and DVCAM PAL or NTSC.

We've got loads of film kit with lots of accessories to play with even those little coloured mic tops to match the interviewees clothing.

In the last six months we've worked for BBC Wales, GSK, Norwich Union, Inland Revenue Criminal Investigation (scary people) and loads of others.

We don't do big complicated jobs or pretend we can compete on DVD duplication (how do they do it so cheap).

We all have a nice time and eat lunch together and sometimes share a takeaway or have a glass of wine after 5pm.

Welcome to the lovely world of Excelsior Film & Video, been going 22 years now.

I PM'd Claire asking her to give me an idea of the cost of transferring Super8 cine footage and she came back to me with a truly comprehensive reply that deserves a wider audience.

This is what she said:

£25 for the first 50ft, £6 for each 50ft reel after that or £4.25p per 50ft if they are on bigger reels.

A most comprehensive film to video website Claire, and congratulations - you've hit all the right buttons. My only thought is that you appear to make light of film cleaning, saying that ..'should it be required...' and so on.

Well, I've been doing film transfers for many years and never, not once, have I received a film that didn't need cleaning before transfer. Often the film will need a two-pass clean because it's been edited on the carpet with the family dog lending a helping hand.

Good film transfers are not cheap, and I worry slightly that customers won't realise the importance of paying to have their film thoroughly cleaned before anything else. It's the preparation of your front door that makes the gloss paint look so smooth.

I can personally vouch for the quality of the service from Clair's company. They transferred about a dozen old 8mm tapes to mini Dv for me last year, including my Wedding tape from 40 odd years ago. No flicker or hot spots, just wonderful .

A wedding tape from 40 odd years ago John? Your memory's playing tricks on you. :)

Tom,
I thought I'd use the modern jargon. Some of the youngsters on the forum might not know what I was talking about if I had said " cine film" !!
