When taking out a subscription for CV, I opted for the Disk caddie as a "gift". I was so struck by the idea, I even order a further caddie.
And why useless? Well that is the case for me, since I intended to use them for disks to be used for video editing and since my motherboard supports ATA66 I chose to purchase a matching 17.3gb disk.
Having installed it in the caddie, imagine my dissappointment when it would perform no better than one of my old 2gb disks. The reason. The disk controller uses a 80 strand cable to achieve maximum performance. But the cable internal to the supplied caddies is only 40 strand.
It seems surprising to me that in supplying these "gifts" the expertise of CV did not come to bear and so recognise that the caddies to not support the current supplied ATA66 technology.
It now looks that I'm going tve to trash the "gifts" and source ATA66 compatible caddies.
A sorry tale, eh?
