For all those that want to know, when I bought another Z1E from Prestons Sony gave you Vegas 7.
Well mine came through this morning.
Also I have to say that I went up to Prestons, bought and came away. Excellent service from this company and a real friendly family atmosphere.

Mine came this morning too, and I'm installing it right now. Mmmm, I wonder if it's the full version? :)

I have to say that my experiences of H Preston echo Simon's with regard to responding to enquires. The boss gave his explanation for this - they do not have enough staff to deal with sales enquiries.

Overall the user interface seems quite basic compared to Premier Pro, but does seem very user firendly. Although time will tell which I prefer to use.

I've loaded it onto my main editing system, which has a Athlon 2600+, 1 TB HD, and 512MB Ram. I know this isn't 'ideal' for HD, but I'm still in the process of upgrading everything over. It's loaded up without a problem, but I seem to have a problem getting it to capture HDV from my Z1.

This might be a preference setting needing adjusted, or perhaps a limitation of the system.

To capture from DV and HD, (not done any HD myself)

FILE > CAPTURE VIDEO then you will get an option for DV or HD.

To Print to tape TOOLS > PRINT TO HDV TAPE

You can also import from DVD FILE > IMPORT and those Mini DVD camcorders.

Press "S" to SPLIT clips, "V" For the Volume for rubber banding
"P" for Panning for rubber banding again

JKL to play reverse forward Stop
Space bar to start stop cursor playing video

Thanks Z, very helpful as always.

Getting back to Preston's, I have to speak as I find and I have always had excellent service from them. I remember a few years back I needed a £5000 Fujion Lens urgently, John was going to London the next day, picked one up and met me just off the M4 on the Bath turn-off. That's what I call service.

We all get rubbed up the wrong way now and again but that's life. I judge a man for what I see him do not what gossip I hear about him.

Anyway I may have a spare Vegas soon because I now need yet another camera so if anyone wants a copy give me a shout.
