Hi everyone - appreciate your comments on my website www.idovideo.co.uk and any comments on the sample video contained therein.

A couple of people with Norton antivirus have indicated there may be something on the site upsetting Norton so I'm particularly interested to hear if you run into any difficulties.

Many thanks in advance.

The video loaded ok , but it paused about 5 times during playback , as it only managed about 50kbs streaming.

The video was better than many local productions i have seen.

cake couple picture on http://www.idovideo.co.uk/about/ page , doesn't load properly.

All worked fine for me and both the site and sample video look very good.

(My only minor nitpick is the spelling of the word "disk"!) :)

Only paused once a few seconds in. Some very nice shots...and good slow motion. What was it edited on, Gordon ?

I use dial-up assisted by OnSpeed. The site loaded quickly, I liked the video overall, and I had no problems with my firewall/anti-virus both by Symantec.

FCP according to the "What we use" part of the site.

Hiya

Yes it was edited on FCP. Thanks for everyone's comments - I'm glad you like the sample video. It's really nerve racking letting you guys see my stuff so I'm dead chuffed you like it.

A couple of people have mentioned problems with the site/images loading up. If you could let me know what you're using to browse the site (IE6, Safari etc) and if you use Norton or another antivirus software I'd appreciate it. I had some trouble mapping the domain name across and it's possible that this might be causing a problem for people accessing the site when they have Norton, or another antivirus piece of software, enabled.

Again many thanks - I appreciate your help and comments.

Gordon

ps I'll change 'disk'

I use avant browser to view websites .........
the picture of the cake couple partly loads , about top 1/3rd.

i always go for comstructive criticism of other peoples work , as i am

1. not brave enough to do weddings for a living
2. have nothing i can show off , all mine is commercial/student work/work done for charities.
3. i tend to be the person who edits other peoples footage , i do very little myself anymore.

good luck with your venture

Gordon,
I like the feel of the site and the sample video. Clean, well cut and gives across the right message.

I feel the level of detail you go into on the "What We use" page is a little much as your perspective clients probably aren't interested, added to this that the sample video looks so good from both a visual and audio viewpoint that maybe less is more on the equipment detail front? This is purely personal and nitpicking to be honest.

Site loaded ok for me and all worked as it should.

Good job sir.

No problems with the site using BitDefender and fairly conservative security settings.

The home page is very neat and un-cluttered, and (a very big plus here) all the links work!

I liked the transitions from monochrome to glorious Technicolour, but the cynic in me says that, as ever, a wedding video is the best advert for a civil Partnership there could possibly be.

Thanks to everyone for your comments and help. The issue with Norton continues and I've no real idea why it happens. Something to do with the content management system (Squarespace) that I'm using.

Thanks to everyone for your comments which I'm really pleased about. My extensive FAQs were based on some research I did with my wife's antenatal group, where they were asked what they would like to know about having their wedding filmed. It is a bit of a long-winded page but I'll keep it going for now and see how it performs once I get some traffic going to the site.

Again - thanks to everyone for their help

I am using an Airport enabled iBook, with Norton Anti-Virus and everything worked very well.

I very much liked the understated nature of the site - it has a certain class to it that I imagine matches your clients' weddings (from what your sample suggests).

What sort of mounting are you using on your FX1? Is it all tripod or a steadycam-type system?

I don't feel qualified to criticise, but I liked it all so I don't need to!

Best

Thought it looked like a good, clean and professional site. Improvements will now include having a few more promo clips for clients to choose from.

Just for your info, I have a problem on my computer in that I don't hear any sound with anything which plays through quicktime. Don't know why (about the sound), but your images looked good without pictures.

Best of luck,
Jeremy

Hi Gordon,

I Liked the site and the video, very good. Only thing I'd suggest on the video side is to get the camera moving a bit more, the shots were good but all seemed very static, but that's just my opinion, it's not a biggy but it'll help make things more interesting.

Thanks for your feedback - I agree with all your points - particularly about bringing more movement into the video.

Wicked I would love to include more clips but it took me such a long time finding a copyright-free piece of music that still felt vaguely contemporary I don't know if I can go through that again...honestly I think it's a disgrace that I can't represent myself properly online because of the UK's bizarre music license laws.

Finally Dominic I use a tripod for a lot of shots and do some handheld stuff too.

Glad you all liked it!
