Is there anyone who can help me. I am a 17 year old student studying Media Studies at GCSE advanced level. For my final year project I am making a 5 - 10 minute trailer for a horror movie and then I am hoping to create a web site with the trailer on it. Does anyone have any experienec of filming horror films who can give advice on shots and angles - also how do I get my video on to my web page without spending too much money? I have never filmed before and I am borrowing a Camcorder from a friend. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

regards
Gemma

Hi Gemma

I am also a 17 year old student currently studying Multi-Media BTEC Diploma at Brighton College of Tecnology. I am in my second year and am just putting the finishing touches to our horror/spookey film called "Tears Before Bedtime".

A good technique is to use low lighting angles to cast scary shadows on walls and places. As for camera angle, try tilted shots and low angles looking up at the "MONSTER", just be unusaul and creative.

But the most important element to a horror film has got to be the soundtrack. Try watching the film "Scream" with the sound muted!, i bet it wont be scary! I got most of the music for our film from either the internet or from a computer games CD.

As for putting your trailer on the net, see my other post on Pinnicles forum at

Please do e-mail me if you need anymore info or help, and I would like to see the finished product. Also I am putting "Tears Before Bedtime" on the net soon, I let you know when.

Gemma,

Your best bet is just to watch a whole load of horror pictures (or better still, their trailers) and pick up tips from them.

I saw "The Sixth Sense" last night - very creepy and wonderfully shot.

Good luck,

Christian.

Gemma,

a good site for sound effect is

www.ljudo.com/ (http://www.ljudo.com/)

and to see a list of the top 25 mp3 sites, go to

www.top25mp3.com/ (http://www.top25mp3.com/)

Also, click on www.napster.com/napv2b3.exe (http://www.napster.com/napv2b3.exe) to download a piece of software called Napster Music Community whick is great for getting mp3's.

Please do e-mail me when your finished so that i can see the trailer, similarly, I will e-mail you when I get "Tears Before bedtime" on the net.

Good Luck,

Main Man
