Will the award of the 2012 Olympics be good news for mainstream HD in the UK? Surely the momentum (and sales) that BBC & ITV will gain from their roles as host nation broadcasters will open a few doors in respect of cash for facilities and licences for terrestrial bandwidth.
Although the analogue switch-off is not due to complete until 2012, is there an opportunity to slot in a SFN mux to carry at least three or four HD programmes?
