Ok.
I heard a rumour that Canon might actually get around to launching their HD models by the end of this year.
Anyone have any more info?

Like I said in message #4, wait and see.

A friend of a friend used to work for Canon and has no rumours.
If Alan really does know something, then how long do we 'wait'.
I think Alan is teasing us - wait 5 years and they may well have something.
I personally predict mobile video phones built into watches (like in Blakes 7) will be available.
Just wait.http://forums.dvdoctor.net/images/icons/icon12.gif

It has to be coming soon.
There's an expo happening in New York soon, and from what I can make out there will be some type of HD beast unleashed on the world.
Or maybe not!

Does this mean Sony and JVC have had it?

No, it means Sony and JVC have had it to themselves so far, but no further. There will be other products (better, smaller/bigger, cheaper/more expensive etc) from all the manufacturers. This isn't a fixed market, it will grow/shrink according to sales.
