I need to download and ASF file for re-purposing.

A client of mine wants to sell his streaming system to a prospective client (of his).

They have an ASF file sat on one of their web pages with play buttons.

My client wants me to download it, convert it to uncompressed and re-compress it with a Java based CODEC.

He can then go back to the content owner and show him a demo of their own video.

I know the URL for the content (frontend player in a webpage) - I just don't know how to get the actual file off their server to my system rather than just playing it.

Hope this is clear enough.

Thanks,

Gavin

Sods law - just done it!

Select "copy to device" in media player - it offered removable devices (no hard drives) so i dumped it to a compact flash card.

Thought I'd leave the answer here in case anyone else finds same issue.

don't know.
i used it once a long time ago , about 2001 , to record a streaming file for work.
it did what we wanted , allowing us to reshow it later, from hard-disk.

have a look here http://www.free-codecs.com/download/WinMPG_Video_Convert.htm and see if this helps
