Does anyone know if it would be possible to utilise the firewire cable to videoconference with say netmeeting? I have an XL1 and run premiere on an RT2000 with win 2000. I just thought that the quality should be better than with a webcam. Has anyone tried this?

what level of connection are you using for videoconferencing ?
there are some firewire webcams available that hopefully have the drivers to allow what you want to do.

we use a minimum of 128k for all our video conferencing ( isdn2 )
our videoconferencing over ip equipment is set to run at 384k ( isdn6 )

thanks for your response. currently I am testing out 512k connection but this is only for the next few weeks as a promotion. I will probably be using a 128k connection on cable broadband. I will try and see if I can get hold of one of those firewire webcams (though not too expensive) I was hoping for a free download or software solution to keep using my setup. Just doing my bit for the environment.

Is there a Mac 'way' of using say the built in firewire with a digi cam for web cam use?
Just curious!

but both involve real webcams and not camera as webcam.
