Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but, i have a Sharp VL-PD3 DIGITAL CAMERA, does anyone know if it is possible to use this as a Webcam.

TIA

Hi Trevor,

I don't see why not.

Most webcam software expects to have a camera connected to the USB port, this won't work with yours, and I don't know if there is such a thing as Webcam software that will take video via DV socket. Unusually for a DV camera yours has a RS232 port instead of a USB for stills, although this way wouldn't work anyway.

However there is nothing stopping you getting a cheap capture card and connecting the analogue outputs of your camera to the capture card, most webcam software will work with a capture card. I set a Webcam up on a webserver using a bottom of the range WinTV card and a JVC KY-F30 industrial camera years ago. It's still running ok today.
