I had a problem with a SM card reading "Card Error" in my Fuji2400 and sent it back for replacement.
This can also happen if you use the SM card in another device, like an MP3 player.

Anyone got a link to a util for fixing unhappy smartmedia cards.
I have a card that plays dead in 3 cameras (Olympus C420/C3000Z & 1 Sony TRV900) but is OK in a PCMCIA adaptor in the laptop.
Here's how I broke the SM card. I pulled the card when the camera was powered. The files on it became corrupted. I reformatted the card in the laptop (98SE). Now my cameras won't see it.
I downloaded the stuff in this Buckers' link but it relates to a specific card reader. None of it works on my system.
Anyone got a Util ?

Why not format it in the camera

All three of the cameras show card errors & reject the card.
The card works like a treat in my laptop.
Thanks anyway.

I installed a SM/CF card reader on one of my customers Win 98 PC's last week.
He now has two SM Cards behaving the same way after being read in the cardreader.
He's used the same cards for at least a year but only via a serial cable connected to the camera.
The cards where not formatted (AFAIK) in the PC - Redundant files where deleted in the camera. then the card was inserted in the USB reader & files where copied using Camedia s/w.
Both cards now play dead in the camera but work fine in Windows.
Me thinks it's an Olympus issue.
This is not good news.......the customer is an estate agent & needs plenty of pictures......
