Dark pictures on Computer

I have two Olympus digital cameras and whilst the pictures taken look perfect on the viewing screen, when bringing them in to Coral Draw or editing programmes such as Coral Photo Paint 8 or Paint Shop Pro 6 they are ALL extreemly dark and if printed, are dark also.

I know it is easy to adjust the photographs using the programmes but surely this can'r be quite right.

Any suggestions to this problem?
