Well done Bob,

Why shouldn't we embrace Digital Still Photography, after all, it's all part of the same family.

I have a Fuji 4700 and I love it. I use it to take Hi-Res stills and bring them into Premiere, to sit along side the video footage

Look forward to reading all the "new" threads.

And I use (at home) an Olympus C3030 (3.3Mpixels). Imported through the Camedia software, thence into either Photo Shop or Paint Shop Pro (depending on what I need to do) and on into EditDV or Premiere (depending on how resilient I feel to PC crashes).

To be fair, these pix have been streets ahead of scans of prints from 35mm, black level is vastly better controlled and exposure tolerance seems greater.

I always route through one of the graphics packages because I need to apply a filter to reduce the tonal range from 0-255 to 15-235 for use in DV footage. Sometimes I apply filters to soften the image to avoid interlace artefacts in video, and frequently I crop the image for video use although Premiere can do that dynamically on the time-line.

I'd be happy to discuss details if anyone wants to.

Ok, I'll start a thread when I have a bit more time. Or would it be better as a technical article in the mag.? Over to you http://www.dvdoctor.net/cgi-bin/ubb/smile.gif
