I am trying to transfer edited video from PC back to video tape. I am using a Panasonic DS33 with DV-In enabled. The transferred video is OK for about 2 seconds and then breaks up into blocks and then goes blank, and the then the blocks return and so on... I have used Pinnacle Studio 7, and also ULead VideoStudio 6 with the same results. I have now purchased Dazzle Hollywood DV-bridge and tried to transfer back directly to my VCR (instead of to the Video camera) but get the same results! My PC is an Evesham, Athlon 1.4 Mhz,60G hard disk, 512DDRAM with firewire & tvcard. I am using Windows ME. Please can anyone help?

welcome to the world of digital video.

if you only have one hard drive you may find it easier to render the finished video to a file and then replay that from the timeline out to the recording device.

i would suggest that you buy a second hard drive to store the video files on which should stop this problem caused by one drive trying to do everything.

if you are still using studio 7 have you downloaded the latest updates which make the program run a little better with some hardware ?

one other thing which may help.

if you are using a via chipset motherboard , i would suggest downloading and installing the newest via chipset drivers and that may improve things for you ( things certainly shouldn't be any worse)

It is possible to get away with using your system drive for editing, but it's not ideal.

To stand any chance, though, you need to ensure the PC is otherwise optimised for editing.

See the FAQ called, "You need to Video editing on a Windows PC - what can I do to prevent dropped frames?", at: http://www.dvdoctor.net/cgi-bin/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000024.html
