View Full Version : splitting stereo track to 2 mono in Prem Pro

I have a project in PP1.5 that's almost done. I've found a few audio tweaks I want to make that would be much easier if the tracks were split to mono. Is there a way to do this on the timeline? I don't want to have to re sync all the audio clips!

I also thought about making a second audio track identical to the main, the do a fill right on one and fill left on the other. Thoughts?

I think I figured it out... I'm going to output the audio track as is, then split that to mono and put them in the project. Since it'll be the exact length and everything, it should drop in just fine. Mute the original track and all will be well. Since I'm not going to be lengthening any clips, only cutting out, it'll work fine.

Ok, new problem... The master is set to mono, so when I export the audio, it downmixes it to mono. Is there any way to either:

A. Switch the project setting to stereo
B. Export a single stereo audio track as stereo, even though the master is mono
C. Do this some other way

I don't have time at this instant, but I thought about making a new project w/ stereo master and doing a copy and paste of the whole audio track from one to the other. Will that work?

I hope I've understood your query correctly

I have been using Edius for some time now so there maybe an easier way, but I had success doing it this way.

In fact PremierePro's inability to do this easily was one of my reasons to start using Edius.

Would it help if you opened a new sequence into which you imported the complete edit sequence twice - to get both audio tracks separately - and use take left/right on those?
