Multiple Ultra ATA Hardrives

I have got a G3 350 Mac. I have bought a IBM 25 gig eide drive to allow more space.

My thinking was to add the 25 gigs to my present 12 gigs with out losing things like CD and ZIps. Is this possible or do I have to lose another device to allow for both drives becuase I really don't want to. Can somebody help me.

If you've got a blue and white G3, you can have up to four IDE devices, so assuming you've currently got three already, you can add one more.

If you have an older Mac, then it is possible you can only have two IDE devices - boot hard disk and, probably (at the moment) CD-ROM.

If you are limited to two IDE devices, you might want to pull out the CD-ROM and replace it with a SCSI model.

I have got a Blue G3. Where do I connect the the drive into and with what cable. I have tried using the 25 gig as a slave and connect it to the same socket as the old drive using a 40 pin cable with two plugs on it.

Any advice? How do I make it work? Nobody in shops seem to know what I am talking about.

I've definately found that Drive Setup 1.6.2 (part of the MAC 8.5.1 upgrade) is more stable than Drive Setup 1.7.3 that comes with 8.6 when initialising large Ultra ATA slave drives.
